Spare Seat Invitation

We invite people to join the Spare Seat for a day along the route.  Typically this will be a day of physical exercise in the great outdoors paddling with the team. We will provide all the necessary equipment such as a waterproof top, PFD (personal floatation device) and paddles.  No experience of kayaking is required and we will provide advice, hints and tips for those joining in the Spare Seat.

We aim to invite a cross section of people to join us for a day of adventure in the Spare Seat. Part of the excitement of this expedition is not knowing who will join us, what will their story be and what will they get from the experience. In this way the Spare Seat story is as much about the characters and stories that join is as it is about the locations and the plan.

We plan to compile some lists of people in advance to join the team for a day or part of a day to fit with the Spare Seat Expedition Schedule which will be published shortly.  In addition we also hope to keep some Spare Seat spaces free at this stage for people to literally act spontaneously and join for the next day. What will you do tomorrow?

People joining will be required to sign a simple risk disclaimer explaining that kayaking has some inherent risks, that they should be confident around water, have reasonable fitness and advise us of any illnesses or medication.  We also want people to take responsibility for their own logistics and transport to get dropped off or picked up after their paddle. Glenn and Richard will be operating from our two man kayaks for the best part of a month without our own ground transport so this would make our lives easier.
